Chancellor Olaf Scholz has met with fierce resistance to the plan to allow a Chinese investor to participate in the Port of Hamburg. The port of Hamburg is “a critical infrastructure of national and European importance,” said CDU foreign politician Norbert Röttgen to the star. “The Chancellor’s intention to give the Chinese state significant and growing influence over this infrastructure via the state-owned company Cosco would be a strategically wrong decision.” Politicians from the traffic light coalition also opposed the plans, including Green Party leader Ricarda Lang.
