Searches of members and supporters of the banned terrorist organization Hamas and the international Samidoun network were expanded throughout the day. As the Federal Ministry of the Interior announced in the evening, the number of objects searched rose to 21 in five federal states.
There was previously talk of 16 properties in Berlin, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia and Schleswig-Holstein. A property in Hamburg and further properties in Berlin and Schleswig-Holstein have now been added. A total of around 500 emergency services were involved. According to the ministry, further search measures were initiated based on the material found.
The focus was Berlin with 13 objects searched. Mobile phones, laptops, data carriers, posters, appeals for donations and documents were seized. On November 2nd, Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD) banned the activities of the Islamist Palestinian organization Hamas and the Samidoun network in Germany. The German branch of the pro-Palestinian Samidoun was also dissolved.
“Our bans enable consistent intervention during demonstrations, consistent prosecution and consistent deletion of channels and pages on the Internet where terrorist propaganda is spread,” said Faeser. “It is completely clear to us: Islamists and anti-Semites cannot and must not feel safe anywhere here at any time.”
