Mölling assumes that the Russian leadership is looking for ways to permanently damage the infrastructure. At the moment there is a race between destruction and repair. He does not expect that the Russians would now use their entire arsenal in a major offensive against infrastructure. Because that would take away options for the continuation of the war. “I wouldn’t bet that the Russians are that stupid,” says the expert.
Mölling points out that British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace has brought up the supply of longer-range missiles. There are reports that the Americans are also thinking about such systems; if they hadn’t already delivered them. In justification, he says: “Because you can of course see that the next opportunities for Ukrainian successes depend more heavily on reaching into the hinterland and into logistics.” Due to the geographical conditions, the greater range is important, since the mighty Dnipro River in the south of Ukraine is difficult to overcome and there is also a zone that makes Russian artillery impassable.
