Was this year’s climate conference a success? I would say so. The climate conference was a victory for the poorest and most vulnerable countries. They made sure that a fund should finally be set up from which they would be compensated if they suffered losses as a result of climate change. But to achieve that, a few bucks had to be swallowed. At the climate conference, one topic is never negotiated alone, everything is used as a bargaining chip. So there is now a commitment for this fund, but no ambition for climate protection itself.
