Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) spends his entire corona isolation period in the Chancellery. The small apartment there “is ideal because I can do my work well from here,” said Scholz, who normally lives in Potsdam, in an interview with the “Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung”.
He has everything he needs there. Hundreds of thousands of citizens have spent the past two and a half years in quarantine or isolation, so he doesn’t have to make a fuss about it, said Scholz.
Scholz takes Paxlovid
He takes Paxlovid on medical advice, Scholz said. The drug can help suppress the spread of the virus in the body. In terms of health, he is doing “quite well given the circumstances”. The infection seems to be rather mild. He is sorry for the canceled appointments, said Scholz. “Now I’m using the time to do a lot of things internally.”
Scholz had tested positive for Corona on Monday and had gone into isolation with mild cold symptoms in the chancellor’s apartment in the Federal Chancellery. On Tuesday, Scholz exchanged views with members of the Bremen state government, among others – but he could only be connected virtually because of his illness.
