Eight defeats in 20 matches should surely not be commonplace in a club of Brøndby IF’s size.

But it is the reality for coach Niels Frederiksen and his crew, which disappointingly had to settle for 1-1 draws – at home against nedrykningskandidaterne from the West, which triggered a pibekoncert on Brøndy Stadium.

Thus goes Brøndby IF on holidays with a nedturs-shoal, which is called just a single captured point in the last four matches.

And it annoys Niels Frederiksen, who do not hesitate to call the team’s efforts in the fall for ‘not approved’:

“It is an annoying feeling to go on winter holidays with. We played really clearly better in the previous three matches than in the day. It was a disappointing result and a disappointing performance. We don’t play more than 20 good minutes,” said Niels Frederiksen, and comes with its sobering conclusion for Brøndbys difficult autumn:

“We would have won today, so it had been fairly sensible. Now we think that we are missing some points when we shall have to conclude in the autumn, and thus it is not approved.”

Asked directly how he with his team has lost eight times in 20 matches, draws Niels Frederiksen’s last season’s rædselsefterår under Alexander Zorniger forward.

“We are not happy with it, but I find just that last year when you went to the winter break, there had Brøndby 30 points after 20 rounds. This year, 32 points, with a largely unchanged squad. But it is not satisfactory. I think we should have had five to six points more. We have lost too many matches and closed too many goals,” he says.

Brøndby IF wintering now in fourth place, but where the team in most of the autumn has had a large buffer down to the teams outside the top-6, there is suddenly a raging field of midterklubber, which see the chance to catch up with the blue-and-yellow and to take a slutspilsplads.

Niels Frederiksen acknowledges that Brøndby IF will start the spring season with to look down in the table.

AaB, FC Nordjælland, Lyngby, and OB, and the other championship slutspils-suitors must be kept at a distance:

“we had Had five to six points more, had it been different. Now we must go out in the spring and raise the points that need to be,” states Niels Frederiksen is real.
