Mr. Herpig, train services in northern Germany were temporarily canceled at the weekend because unknown persons severed important Deutsche Bahn communications cables. When it comes to cyber defense in Germany, do we underestimate how important it is to also protect cable lines and server rooms? I don’t think so. For certifications and audits in the context of IT security, the auditors take both virtual and physical components into account. But of course it makes a difference whether the cables are on the company’s own premises or distributed across the entire country. It is impossible to guarantee complete protection. It is all the more important that the systems are resilient.
