These were images that went around the world: in September 2022, two days after the death of Queen Elizabeth II, Prince William and Prince Harry walked with their wives Duchess Kate and Duchess Meghan across the grounds of Windsor Castle. The two couples examined the numerous donations of flowers that had been placed by the mourning population and spoke to the people waiting in front of the castle.
It was the first appearance together since Harry and Meghan officially left the royal family in 2020. That’s why the photos caused a small sensation. The meeting was personally initiated by William, said a palace spokesman. The journalist Omid Scobie, who is close to Harry and Meghan, also posted a video on Twitter at the time that showed the four of them arriving in Windsor. On the outside, it looked like a first attempt at rapprochement between the quarreling brothers. An end to the family feud seemed in sight.
But that was just an illusion. British author Robert Jobson claims so in his new book “Our King: Charles III — The Man And The Monarch”. The work will appear on April 13, and the British newspaper “Daily Mail” has already published excerpts from it.
Jobson claims to have learned that Duchess Kate in particular found the appearance extremely stressful. She is said to have later told a high-ranking member of the royal family that taking a walk with Harry and Meghan was one of the most difficult things she has ever had to do. The reason she gave was the alleged tense mood that prevailed between the couples. Author Jobson even speaks of “warring couples” in his book. Jobson does not write how Harry and Meghan experienced the situation.
He only emphasizes that the meeting took place before Harry and Meghan released their Netflix documentary and the 38-year-old released his autobiography “Spare”. The offer now even more cause for tension between family members, if it is to reunite at the coronation of King Charles III. coming on May 6th. Harry and Meghan have received an invitation.
