The service is free of charge and the funding will be in charge of their own diocese and other external institutions, such as the Fundación Porticus. “These crimes pose an unacceptable form of commodification of individuals, and a moral degradation that is contrary to the ethics and most elementary to the values of the Gospel,” says bishop, who has claimed to this newspaper that, for the moment, is not aware of any case of pedophilia opened legally and canonically in his bishopric.
The opening of the office formed part of Repair, a project that the bishopric has been designed to strengthen the prevention of abuse in religious institution. The initiative also includes a program of training addressed to the agents of pastoral care, although it will also be open for anyone who has “sensitivity on this issue”, since the goal of this learning is “to ensure safe environments to all people, especially to minors and to those who are in a situation of vulnerability”.

“Immersed” in the development of a custom protocol
The diocese has emphasized that, “as it has done up to now”, will move the cases to the public Prosecutor that is required by the law (those in which the victim is still a minor and has not been prescribed). The office will continue, as it has clarified the bishopric, the protocol antiabusos of Catholic Schools and of the Spanish Episcopal Conference (EEC). This last, published in 2010, does not oblige the prelates to communicate the cases of those who had evidence to the Prosecutor’s office. In the last year, and cornered by the growing cases that have come to light, the hierarchy of the church is writing a draft of a new updated standard. However, the archdiocese that runs Osoro has advance to THE COUNTRY which is “immersed” in the elaboration of a protocol of their own “that responds to the needs that are detected and that provides the latest regulatory changes, marked both by the Church as by the Spanish legislation”.
