After six episodes of the documentary ’Prince Joachim tells’ are the danes back with a new impression of prince Joachim of denmark – or do they?
Kongehuseksperter is not quite agree. But they agree in one thing. Prince Joachim has many strengths, but he will never be as its older brother, the crown prince. And there are several reasons for this.
Historian and kongehusekspert Sebastian Olden-Jørgensen roses, prince Joachim for his good speakerstemme and his abilities as a host in the documentary, where prince Joachim examines the history along with his own family’s history.
“I think it goes well, for he strikes a very good balance between being available and being itself on its own, perhaps a little formal way. He does it well. He’s not trying to be anything else than he is. He’s not trying to be nice and popular as his brother. He does it in a very authentic way. He is approachable,” says Olden-Jørgensen.
He sees the entire series as a sort of relaunch of prince Joachim.
And he believes that it goes quite well.
And it is also good that the prince is not trying to copy big brother style.
“the Founder of the’ popular culture ‘ is a massive success, but he (Joachim, ed.) trying to find his own style, and I think he is doing really well. He does not sour and stand-offish, which he sometimes has been – but he’s trying not to be leflende or more popular than he is,” he says.
Throughout the series have prince Joachim reviewed topics such as: laws, symbols, school, faith, borders, and democracy.
Viewers have seen prince Joachim take selfies with Jellingestenen, act in the Net, speak with the nuns and Bahsine a former criminal, and buy sausages in a hot dog stand.
But although prince Joachim, who in the series consistently is familiar with the people, appear more popular, you will succeed, yet not to shake it a bit rigid image away, believe kongehusekspert and author Søren Jakobsen.
“I don’t think it works as a strong imageforbedrende. The director has made a really good job, but Joachim is still the same Joachim, as he was before the broadcasts. But it is a fine advertisement for him,” says Soren Jakobsen.
When the crown prince the other day was in Warsaw, there was a funny situation.
the royal couple should have taken a picture together, but was suddenly surrounded by some veterankammerater.
Krigsveteranerne gave the crown prince a gift, put his arm about him and called him ’good, old Frederick’.
And the crown prince reciprocated krammene and asked storsmilende up to the image.
It is the popular appeal, of which prince Joachim do not have, explains Søren Jakobsen.
“It shows the difference. Who is Frederick much more down to earth and can improvise. And there he is not so laid-back and lofty, that he can’t give a hug. The two scenes show the difference, there will be Joachim scene in the Net a little bit artificial,” he says, referring to the documentary.
He adds:
“And it becomes not popular, because Joachim looks a (ice) skating game. He is stiff in it. He could not shake off. It all becomes a little taken – and it is the difference between the two brothers.”
