PARIS, — An ex-politician who called for the overthrow French government was charged with terrorism in connection to an extremist plot to attack vaccination centres, a masonic lodge, and other targets.
Remy Daillet Widdemann was already charged with masterminding an international QAnon-style kidnapping a girl for the mother of the child, who had lost custody. When the new allegations were made, involving many of the same extremist circle of his supporters, he was sentenced to prison in eastern France.
Anti-terrorism investigators discovered that many others were being monitored for unrelated far right extremism during the search for the girl.
Daillet was living in Malaysia during this time, but was eventually forced to return to France. He was immediately arrested upon his return.
Jean-Christophe Basson-Larbi was Daillet’s lawyer and described him as a political prisoner. He stated that Daillet was a peaceful advocate for the end of the political system, and that he believed in French justice, despite being charged with the crime. He has pledged to run for president in France’s forthcoming elections.
Friday saw the arrest of Daillet.
