The unemployment benefits will be uprated by 0.4 % on 1 July, said the Unédic in a press release following a board of directors which was held on Tuesday, June 30, 2020. This revaluation, which is the successor to a rise already limited to 0.7% in 2019, concerns 92 % of jobseekers compensated by the unemployment insurance July 1, 2020, or approximately 3 million people.
The cost for the second half of 2020 and the year 2021 is of 130 million euros, according to the Unédic. The minimum allocation to 29,38 euros per day, compared 29,26 € currently. The fixed portion of the allocation goes to 12,05 euros per day indemnified against 12 euros currently. It is added to the proportional part of the allowance that is equivalent to 40.4 % of the former wage (the daily wage of reference).
the Abstention of the unions
The increase in daily wages of the reference concerned only the persons to be compensated for more than 6 months, or about 2.4 million people. For approximately 470 000 recipients, only the revaluation of the fixed part applies. During the vote, the trade unions, which jointly manage Unédic with the employers ‘ organisations, abstained, because they were clamoring for more.
