The Paris Motor Show opens its doors again this Monday after a break caused by the corona virus two years ago. The focus is on the electrification of the vehicle fleet, research into alternative fuels and hydrogen drives and the introduction of artificial intelligence into cars.

The motor show, which is being held for the 89th time this year, is one of the most visited trade fairs in the world. Around one million visitors were counted in 2018. Alternating every year with the IAA, manufacturers show innovations from their range. Even test drives for car enthusiasts are part of the program.

The gradual decline of the major motor shows does not stop at the Paris Motor Show either. Visitors will have to do without a number of brands this year. The German manufacturers are largely ignoring the “Mondial de l’Auto 2022”. VW, Audi and BMW will not be there in Paris, and Mercedes will not be at the fair but with an event in the city.

After the Corona break, the trade fair is taking a new approach: an experience-oriented format will be offered, as the organizers announced. There is a new visitor course, an extended daily program and more opportunities than before to get up close and personal with the new vehicles. French President Emmanuel Macron is expected to visit the fair on Monday.
