The average price of electricity in the wholesale market will drop 16.3% this Wednesday, standing at 218.55 euros per megawatt hour (MWh), including the cost of the ‘pool’ and compensation to gas companies, compared to the 261.15 euros of this Tuesday, according to the latest data from the Iberian Electricity Market Operator (OMIE), collected by Servimedia.
The price of the ‘pool’ will remain at 132.74 euros, 8.24% less than the 144.66 euros of this Tuesday.
In parallel, the amount of gas compensation will also fall, which this Wednesday will remain at 85.81 euros per MWh, compared to 116.49 euros this Tuesday, which translates into a drop of 29.7%. The figure also moves away from the 132.12 euros of compensation on Wednesday of last week.
The highest compensation will be registered tomorrow at 6.00 with 132.11 euros and the lowest, at 18.00 with 54.1 euros.
In short, the 218.55 euros per MWh this Wednesday represent a drop of 23.2% compared to the 284.87 euros on Wednesday of last week but, on the other hand, it represents 35% more than a month ago.
In a year-on-year comparison, this Wednesday an increase of 133.7% is registered, since on June 29 of last year the price was 93.49 euros per MWh.
