The creation of companies and investment are stagnating in the midst of an inflationary spiral, which has the whole of the Spanish economy in check. By communities, Madrid, Catalonia and Andalusia are the autonomies where more companies are born both in the first five months and in May, with 10,360, 9,037 and 7,981 in the accumulated and 1,989, 2,002 and 1,618 in the month each. Between the three they represent 59% of the total. But while Catalonia is the one that has grown the most in absolute value since January, adding 337, followed by the Balearic Islands, which added 327, Madrid is the one that has reduced the most, subtracting 304. Murcia, which has lost 185, and Castilla y Leon, which remains 102.
The capital invested has decreased in most of the communities since January. Quantitatively, Valencia is the one that decreases the most and Madrid the one that adds the most, 290 million euros to lead the data with 795 million euros, 35% of the total. The next, Catalonia, stays at 372 million euros. In May, Madrid is also the first, with 108 million euros, an increase of 19%.
By sectors, constitutions have registered good progress in construction and real estate activities (9%), hospitality (17%), business services (0.7%), health (3%), and other services (21%). Construction and real estate activities and hospitality were the ones that grew the most in absolute value, totaling 861 and 708 each.
Construction and real estate activities, commerce and business services lead the accumulated data with 10,546, 9,004 and 7,172 in each case. Together they account for 58% of the total. And they also lead in May, with 2,143, 1,940 and 1,382 respectively. business services and agriculture are the ones that cut the most this month, 159 and 77 creations less, respectively.
Accumulated investment so far this year falls mainly in construction and real estate activities, which lost 78 million, to stay at 584 million euros. This figure is only surpassed by the more than 1,000 million euros that are invested to create financial intermediation companies, 45% of the total. However, in May both sectors reached very similar amounts, 124 million euros for construction and real estate activities and 121 million euros for business services.
