Peugeot fans will have to wait until autumn. Only in September will the new Peugeot 3008 celebrate its premiere and the crossover, based on the flexible STLA platform, will be the first model to be equipped with the Panorama i-Cockpit. This display is a 21-inch flat screen, which will be one of the largest in Europe with a screen diagonal of more than 53 centimeters. Similar to the curved screen in models such as the BMW i7, i4 or iX, the display also has a so-called high-definition display, but unlike most of the competition, it does without an additional head-up display of the most important information.

Along with the new-generation i-Cockpit, Peugeot is introducing a new, ultra-compact steering wheel and digital controls in its 3008. The current i-Cockpit in the Peugeot models has been a topic of conversation for years. The compact leather steering wheel is well received by some customers; However, tall drivers complain about moderate ergonomics due to the low steering wheel and the lack of a head-up display in the windscreen. However, Peugeot wants to make this superfluous with the high positioning of the display. All driving-related information such as speed, performance, assistance systems and energy consumption is shown on the left-hand side of the panorama display above the steering wheel. To the right of it, and therefore also within reach of the front passenger, is the touchscreen, which can be used to operate the air conditioning, navigation or media, among other things.

In the center of the dashboard are customizable touch-sensitive controls called i-Toggles that provide quick access to the user’s ten most-used functions. Freely programmable control buttons have also been known for years from BMW, which first introduced them in the center console. The control modules on the steering wheel of the Peugeot 3008 automatically recognize the driver’s fingers, but are only activated when they are pressed in order to avoid incorrect operation. The new Peugeot, which is said to have a range of up to 700 kilometers as an electric version, not only gets the panorama display, but also a redesigned center console. By moving the gear selector switch to the dashboard, there is more space for storage and wireless charging of smartphones.
