Collective bargaining at Deutsche Bahn continued on Tuesday morning. Representatives of DB and the railway and transport union EVG negotiated in working groups in a hotel in Berlin from 8 a.m. After the start on Monday afternoon, no interim results have been announced. As long as the negotiations are not surprisingly interrupted, this should not change in the course of Tuesday. However, the EVG announced an interim report for Wednesday, which should also take into account possible work stoppages. If the interim balance is positive, negotiations will probably continue up to and including Friday.
Since the end of February, EVG has been in talks with DB and dozens of other railway companies about higher wages and salaries for a good 230,000 employees. The focus is on the negotiations with DB, where around 180,000 of these employees work. The union demands from employers a fixed amount of at least 650 euros per month more or twelve percent for the upper wage groups. According to their ideas, the term should be twelve months.
During negotiations in Fulda at the end of May, the railways promised twelve percent more in several stages for the lower wage groups. The middle groups should get a total of ten percent more and the upper groups eight percent. The first stage of the increase should therefore come this year. In addition, there is an inflation compensation premium in several payments totaling 2850 euros, which could be paid tax- and duty-free from this July. The term should be 24 months.
