The Dax returned from the holiday break with little movement on Thursday. Ten minutes after the start of trading, the leading index was unchanged at the previous day’s level at 17,931.68 points. The MDax with the medium-sized German stock exchange companies gained 0.34 percent to 26,352.57 points. The Eurozone leading index EuroStoxx 50, on the other hand, fell by a good half a percent.
The focus on Thursday was once again on quarterly reports and the review of the interest rate decision in the USA. In the middle of the week, Jerome Powell, the head of the US Federal Reserve, once again dampened hopes of interest rate cuts. However, he also countered concerns that the next interest rate move could even be an increase. In this respect, LBBW strategist Rolf Schäffer said in the morning that Powell’s words also had a calming effect.
