After jumping over the 14,500 point mark, the Dax initially took a breather on Friday morning. In the first few minutes, the leading German index fluctuated around its previous day’s close and was last listed at 14,541.86 points with a plus of 0.02 percent. Market participants also expect the session to be rather lackluster in the further course of the year, as trading in the USA will be shortened.
Driven by hopes that US interest rate hikes would slow down somewhat, the leading German index had regained the 14,500 mark the day before for the first time since June.
The MDax for medium-sized stocks went down on Friday morning, with a minus of 0.57 percent to 25,906.35 points. The EuroStoxx 50, the leading barometer for the euro zone, hardly moved at minus 0.02 percent, similar to the Dax.
