After a five-day rally in the Dax and the rise above 16,000 points, the leading index initially paused on Friday. Especially since three major US banks, JPMorgan, Citigroup and Wells Fargo, unofficially herald the season of quarterly reports in the US with their business figures at noon. The Dax was 16,123 points in early trading, a moderate minus of 0.1 percent.

The MDax with the 50 medium-sized titles fell by 0.27 percent to 27,922 points. The EuroStoxx 50, the stock exchange barometer for the heavyweights in the euro zone, hardly moved.
