The German stock market largely maintained its clear gains from the previous day on Tuesday. The Dax was able to make up for its initial losses at times and closed down 0.11 percent at 15,365.14 points. This results in a gain of 1.6 percent for the leading index in February. The MDax of medium-sized stocks fell by 0.11 percent on Tuesday to 28,648.13 points.
Analyst Konstantin Oldenburger from CMC Markets summed up the February balance of the hopes that flourished in January that interest rates would be cut in the second half of the year. “But the stock market, especially the German share index, has held up surprisingly well. Viewed from a somewhat more optimistic perspective, one could therefore also speak of a necessary break after a very strong recovery on the stock market. February is also known for being a difficult one stock exchange month,” says Oldenburger.
