People want to be recognized for their achievements and ideas. This is not vanity – recognition is one of the most important needs in psychological research. And a lack of appreciation is one of the most frequently cited reasons in statistics on layoffs. There are two sides to the problem: Appreciation is a management task – and team members who remain pale in everyday company life can shine with a little support. But it is also a question of personal responsibility. Adopting this can be difficult if employees feel overlooked, ignored or even ignored.
