According to the company, customers of the parcel service provider Hermes were unable to deliver parcels to the provider’s parcel shops for almost the entire day due to an IT malfunction.
The disruption began in the morning and was resolved by the early evening, a spokesman for the company told the German Press Agency. “All Hermes Germany services are running without restrictions again,” the company said when asked in the evening. Heise, among others, had previously reported on the problems. The cause of the outage was a disruption at Vodafone, Hermes’ telecommunications provider.
Behind the market leader DHL, Hermes is one of the most important German parcel service providers that is recording strong growth in times of booming online trade. The Hamburg company belongs to the Otto trading group.
