Sure, the new BMW XM is a painful thorn in the side of Porsche, because the Bavarian is not only available as a 653 hp normal version, but also as a 748 hp Label Red Edition. The Zuffenhausen-based company is now countering this with the new Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid, which rounds off the still young model family. Its double-charged four-liter V8 delivers 441 kW / 599 hp after the power boost. It is supported by a 130 kW / 176 hp electric motor in the transmission tunnel, which increases the overall performance of the new flagship model to 544 kW / 739 hp and an impressive maximum torque of 950 Nm. From a standing start, the 2.5-ton all-wheel drive colossus accelerates to speed in 3.7 seconds, but with a top speed of 295 km/h it does not crack the magical 300 mark.
However, things are very different with the optional GT package. Externally, the models with the GT package differ from the normal Turbo E-Hybrid by a modified front end with black accents, dark wheel arch extensions, carbon splitter on the roof spoiler and centrally located tailpipes of the titanium exhaust system. Equipped like this, the Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid Coupé with GT package reaches 305 km/h. The standard air suspension and torque vectoring on the rear axle can be expanded to include rear axle steering and roll stabilization. Inside there are either electric leather comfort seats or sports chairs, the new digital cockpit with passenger display and LED matrix headlights.
However, there was not only a significant increase in performance of almost 100 hp compared to the previous top model, the Cayenne Turbo GT, but also a significantly larger battery in the underbody. The battery pack with its increased capacity of 25.9 kWh is sufficient for an electric route of more than 70 kilometers before it goes to the next charging station. Up to 82 kilometers are possible in pure inner-city operation. A new on-board charger reduces the charging time at the wall box or charging station to just under 2.5 hours until the battery pack is completely full. The standard consumption is 1.7 to 2.0 liters Super or at least 29.9 kWh per 100 kilometers.
The base price of the Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid is 176,324 euros; the coupe version costs at least 179,775 euros. With the GT package, the price of the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid increases to at least 208,454 euros. The new top model is only available in markets where the previous Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT is no longer available due to legal requirements. This includes most EU countries, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore.
