Not only in the nomenclature Human Horizons is based on Tesla for its new electric models. The car manufacturer from China doesn’t have to hide in Sacken’s design and degree of innovation either. While the electric crossover HiPhi X and the four-door coupe limousine HiPhi Z are in the price segment of 100,000 euros and more, the currently most successful electrical manufacturer from the Chinese premium segment is now one class below in terms of volume. The beacon of hope with the designation HiPhi Y has now celebrated its world premiere in Shanghai as an electric mid-range crossover.
The Human Horizons Y is designed as a luxurious volume model and is intended to attract new customers with its design and high-tech equipment. One of the technical highlights are the electric wing doors, which can be opened and closed without contact, similar to the HiPhi X. Among other things, the Model Y borrowed the infotainment screen attached to a robotic arm and the all-wheel steering from its bigger brother. The equipment variants Flagship, Long Range, Elite and Pioneer offer all this as standard. The Long Range model is equipped with a 115 kWh battery pack and can travel up to 810 kilometers on a single charge in the Chinese consumption cycle, which is still 700 kilometers in line with the European consumption pattern. With a capacity of 76.6 kWh, the standard battery enables a range of over 500 kilometers.
The versions with four-wheel drive and two motors at the front and rear have a peak output of up to 371 kW / 505 hp and accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds. The top speed: 205 km/h. The Y versions with rear-wheel drive have a peak output of 247 kW / 335 hp. At the same time, the HiPhi Y is equipped with an advanced double wishbone axle at the front and a five-link axle at the rear. Next spring, the HiPhi Y should also come to Europe and stir up the electric competition here. The new mid-size crossover will be produced in Qingdao, where 120,000 vehicles will soon be able to roll off the production line each year. Models like the HiPhi Y can drive autonomously to the storage area immediately after production. Should the demand increase as planned, this can be expanded significantly without any problems. Human Horizons thinks big.
