With the arrival of June, the good weather has fully established itself, and with it people already see the summer holidays on the horizon. However, there is still the month of June before the official arrival of this long-awaited season and, therefore, mark the holidays on the calendar.
June is, in general, one of the months in which there are fewer non-working days. And so it remains in 2022. In fact, there is no national holiday. However, there are certain autonomous communities in which they will enjoy festive days, and some will agree on the reason.
This is the case of Catalonia, the Valencian Community and Galicia. The night of June 23 to 24
these regions celebrate one of their most special festivals and with which many officially welcome summer. It is the night of San Juan.
This festivity commemorates the birth of Saint John the Baptist and tradition urges people to congregate on the beaches around the bonfires and, for the most daring, to jump over them at night.
In addition, Catalonia will also celebrate during this month of June, specifically on the 6th, Easter Granada, also known as Second Easter or Easter. It is an exclusive festivity in this region, and since it coincides with a Monday, it will allow Catalans to enjoy a three-day weekend.
Thursday June 9 is the big day of two communities: Murcia and La Rioja. Both territories celebrate the anniversary of the promulgation of the Organic Law of the Statute of Autonomy by which both were established as autonomies. As it falls on a Thursday, Murcia and La Rioja will not be able to enjoy a ‘bridge’ on the occasion of this festivity.
Finally, Thursday June 16 will be a party in Castilla La Mancha due to Corpus Christi. It is a celebration of great relevance in that region, and especially in the capital, Toledo.
