Telsa’s car factory in Grünheide, Brandenburg, is located in one of the driest regions in Germany and, what’s more, in a drinking water protection area that supplies 170,000 people. In the fourth episode of the stern podcast “Inside Tesla – Behind the scenes of the Gigafactory” the stern reporters meet André Bähler. He is head of the local Strausberg-Erkner water association and is therefore responsible for clean drinking water. The reporters show him a list of environmental accidents that are said to have occurred on the site, including accidents involving paint, leaking hydraulic oil and hazardous substances that were not stored properly. Bähler does not know these incidents. Is the water for the region already contaminated?
