The Tesla factory in Grünheide, Brandenburg, is located on a water protection area, on the region’s most important drinking water reservoir. Nevertheless, the Brandenburg state government allowed the US company to build. The authorities simply overrode parts of the water protection regulations for Tesla – through special permits. It would be all the more important that the company handles poisons and other hazardous substances particularly responsibly. The reality looks different. According to exclusive research by Stern, there have been several dozen accidents, fires and other incidents that threaten people and the environment since the factory opened.
