For restaurateurs and hoteliers, there are signs of better Christmas and New Year’s business than last year – but according to the industry, it is still a long way from the level it was before the Corona crisis. In an industry survey by the hotel and restaurant association Dehoga, around 60 percent of the companies surveyed said so, as the association announced on Monday.

The November sales alone, adjusted for price, were on average 8.5 percent below the sales of 2019, it said. In the entire period between January and November, sales fell by 8 percent compared to the same period in 2019.

Around a third of the companies described the booking situation for Christmas as “poor”. For at least two thirds of those surveyed, it presents itself as “good” or “satisfactory”.
