When the Duisburg beverage group Hövelmann took over the license for Sinalco in the 1990s, the lemonade brand had a problem: you could hardly buy the bottles anymore, not in grocery stores, not in beverage stores. One of the best-known soft drinks was only available in gastronomy. At that time, Sinalco was asleep, says Heino Hövelmann, managing partner of the family company. His first task: “Create availability.” The new owner, who with the Rheinfelsquellen brand is one of the largest German mineral water producers, soon brought lemonade and cola back into the supermarkets.
