It’s the middle of the week and disturbingly quiet in the factory buildings of the Bögra company in Solingen. Only a cleaning lady, rag in hand, is walking around. Normally there is hissing and cracking here, ovens are steaming, iron pipes are clattering so that your ears are ringing. But Christian Schneider, 48, one of the two managing directors, sent people home. He urgently needs to conserve energy.
