Anyone who gets off at Tesla Strasse 1 these days can feel the tremors of the sandy soil in the Mark Mark under their feet. Where there was a pine forest around two years ago, trucks and excavators now roll in a continuous loop over the asphalt. In Grünheide, just outside of Berlin, the US carmaker Tesla is building its gigafactory in turbo mode, also thanks to the generous support of the Brandenburg state government, which is hoping for bubbly tax revenues. Around 12,000 people are expected to work here one day. The yellow workers’ buses are already stopping in front of the factory gate at a frequency that makes you think of the bus station in a small town.
