The Independent and Official Trade Union Center (CSIF), the majority union within public administrations, and JUSAPOL (a platform that brings together the majority Police and Civil Guard unions) have once again taken to the streets of all of Spain this Wednesday to defend better pay conditions for civil servants. All this, the eve of the United Nations Day for Public Administration. In this sense, they have demanded that the Government fulfill its promises and initiate negotiations for a salary increase.

Specifically, CSIF has urged that this measure be included in the Anti-Crisis Plan that the Government will approve next Saturday during the extraordinary Council of Ministers convened for this purpose. In addition to drawing attention to “economic uncertainty and its effects on the services that citizens receive.”

The main concentration has taken place in front of the Ministry of Finance and Public Function in Madrid, while in the rest of Spain there will be more protest actions at the doors of the Government delegations.

From the main union of civil servants they have recalled that this group has suffered a loss of purchasing power of more than 15% since 2010, when their salary was lowered and they have demanded the abolition of the replacement rate, the effective stabilization of places, improvements in retirement conditions, the correction of pay inequalities between administrations, the updating of compensation for service reasons or the improvement of care in civil servants’ mutual insurance companies.

The head of CSIF, Miguel Borra, has also sent a letter to the Ministry of Finance and Public Administration for the “immediate” call for the General Negotiation Table of Public Administrations, after the publication in the Official State Gazette (BOE ) of the rules for the preparation of the General State Budgets (PGE) for 2023. In it, the Executive has been asked that “it is time to move from words to deeds” and not to shy away from collective bargaining.
