It should have been the start of a new life, but the chinese chef Huashan Hong ended up living in a storeroom at a restaurant in the centre of Copenhagen in half a year, while he had to work up to 14 hours a day.
3F call it an example of ‘extreme exploitation.
A narrow storeroom at four metres square with a mattress on the floor.
Here lived the chinese cook Huashan Hong in 180 days, while he was working at the chinese restaurant, Bao & Bar in the heart of Copenhagen. It writes the Magazine 3F.
He thought at first, that the arrangement would be temporary, but ended up staying in the restaurant for half a year, before he realized that he had been cheated.
“I never thought it would end like this,” he tells
the Agreement between Huashan Hong and his boss sounded originally, the chinese chef had to work eight hours a day and have two days off a month.
And not least, to Huashans employer could obtain a legal work permit.
It was the main criterion for Huashan, since his plan was to get his wife and son with him to Denmark from China.
“I trusted him because he seemed honest. And I thought, to chinese help chinese. But he lied,” says the Huashan Hong.
Everywhere in the country there are restaurants that hires chinese chefs to work for peanuts, while the owner promises its employees a legal stay in Denmark – and for many even more important:
the Chance to have their entire life and family with them to Denmark and start a fresh in a western country.
the Deal with jobs is conducted openly on the web, where the chefs are told that they will get the contracts of four years and the security in legal papers, as well as the chance to stay permanently in Denmark.
Huashan Hongs story is one’s worst performance, that becomes a reality, believe the president of 3F Copenhagen, John Ekebjærg-Jakobsen.
“this is The thing, you can’t imagine going on in Denmark. This is an extreme version of how the necks of the weakest,” he says.
3F Copenhagen has made a claim for compensation on Huashan Hongs behalf and the case is now on its way in court. The requirement is several hundred thousand dollars, says John Ekebjærg-Jakobsen.
“None of us can accept that such a thing here going on. Here we must take a step back and take care of them, who do not have anyone behind him.” the
the Man, who employees Huashan Hong in Bao & Bar called Pifu Zhang. He is the owner of a small chinese restaurant in Vesterbro in Copenhagen, Noodle House.
Noodle House is in the media several times been praised for the authentic chinese food, and the daily newspaper Politiken has called the ‘City’s best chinese.’
In november described the Politiken also just how the Noodle House extended with even a chinaman in Nørrebro, namely, Bao & Bar, where the Huashan Hong lived.
Fagbladet3F have seen several videos of Huashan Hongs life in Bao & Bar and visited him while he was working at the restaurant.
Several of my colleagues, who have worked at the same time with the Huashan Hong, to confirm parts of his story, as they tell, how they themselves were deceived.
According to the Huashan Hong, it was Pifu Zhang, who through the Noodle House offered him the job, instructed in the work of Bao & Bar and promised a work permit.
But according to the Pifu Zhang, it is not.
“I was not the employer of him, I helped just with the concept of Bao & Bar, because it was chinese,” he says, and tells that he will not comment further on the advice of his lawyer.
the Owner of Bao & Bar called the Said Kiaei and is a statutory auditor in Nørrebro. He explains that he is indeed the owner of Bao & Bar on paper, but do not drive the restaurant because the Huashan Hong lived there. He knew not anything about what was going on.
Neither Said Kiaei or Pifu Zhang will tell who the driver Bao & Bar. However, according to the Huashan Hong, and multiple sources, Ali Ismaeli, the owner of the kebab restaurant Konyali, which was previously at the same address.
