Carlos Tavares leaves no doubt about the sense of driving a car – climate change and environmental destruction or not. “Individual mobility is a fundamental right,” said the native Portuguese repeatedly at the “Car Symposium” in Bochum. And when asked by stern, he says it with an undertone that makes it clear: when he says “fundamental rights” he actually means “human rights”. “I don’t want to have to ask politicians for permission if I want to go on vacation with my family by car.”
