“We have to work with China on this point,” said Zelenskyy. “Our job is to unite everyone to isolate one,” he added, referring to Russia.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry had previously presented a twelve-point plan for a “political settlement” of the conflict. Russia and Ukraine should “resume direct dialogue as soon as possible,” it said. And: “The sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of all countries must be effectively safeguarded.” What this means in the case of Ukraine, which was invaded by Russia, is not explained.
The Ukrainian President also said his country would seek closer cooperation with countries in Africa and Latin America. “We didn’t do a good job for years, we didn’t pay attention. I think that’s a big mistake,” Zelenskyj said.
Zelenskyj also emphasized Ukraine’s will to win again. “If our partners live up to their promises and their deadlines, victory is inevitable.” If everyone “can do their homework, we can all win,” said the Ukrainian president.
