The president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Ximo Puig, has chosen to link his political future and that of the autonomous Executive formed by the PSPV-PSOE, Compromís and Podemos to that of its vice-president, Mónica Oltra, despite the fact that the Prosecutor’s Office of the Superior Court of Justice , in a devastating report in which he claims his imputation, considers that there are “relevant” indications that the leader of Compromís has been able to commit the crimes of prevarication, abandonment of minors and omission of the duty to prosecute crimes.

The general secretary of the PSPV-PSOE neither calls for the resignation of his “number two” in the regional government nor does he think of dismissing her despite the seriousness of the accusations of a superior prosecutor with a progressive tendency such as Teresa Gisbert, who understands that Mónica Oltra plotted a «pre-established plan» to hide the case of sexual abuse of her husband to a minor protected by the Generalitat.

The Valencian Socialists analyze the polls that indicate that without a pact with Compromís it will be impossible for them to maintain the Presidency of the Generalitat in the face of a pact between the PP and Vox such as the one indicated by the polls for the Andalusian elections on June 19.

In this context, they have opted to avoid confrontation with Mónica Oltra, who has already made it clear that she does not intend to resign, even if the Civil and Criminal Chamber of the Valencian TSJ agrees to her imputation. Compromís has joined his thesis and understands that the Prosecutor’s Office has been “influenced by the persecution of the right” to its leader.

The Civil and Criminal Chamber of the TSJ has already started the process to decide whether or not to charge the leader of Compromís -registered for her status as a regional deputy- in the case with thirteen charges and officials from the regional department investigated for the alleged concealment of the educator Luis Ramírez Icardi,

For Mónica Oltra and for Compromís, the judges and prosecutors are wrong in the five pronouncements that have detected alleged irregularities in the management of the Department of Equality of the case of sexual abuse of a minor under the guardianship of the Generalitat for which he has been sentenced to a sentence Educator Luis Eduardo Ramírez Icardi, married to the Valencian vice president when the events occurred, has been sentenced to five years in prison and is pending an appeal filed with the Supreme Court.

In this context, Ximo Puig has limited himself to expressing his “maximum respect for Justice” in the case that corners his vice president, who on the same day that he openly charged against the Prosecutor’s Office said he felt “supported” by his PSPV government colleagues -PSOE, Podemos and Compromís.

The president of the Generalitat has the power to dismiss his “number two” and spokesman. The Statute of Autonomy also grants it the possibility of advancing elections. Another option would be to try to exhaust the legislature with a minority government without commitments. Despite the multiple alternatives available to him, the socialist president has opted to wait for Mónica Oltra to decide his future and that of the Executive he leads.
