BARCELONA, 17 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The World Padel Tour (WPT) professional circuit and the Spanish Padel Federation (FEP) have agreed to create a new category, the WPT Next, with a series of tests organized by the regional federations and that will award WPT points.

The new category is designed to provide the necessary structure to players and federations in the training and promotion stages. WPT Next will have four types of tournaments, depending on the endowment and category: NEXT DIAMOND, NEXT EMERALD, NEXT RUBY and NEXT SAPPHIRE.

The WPT and the FEP assure that all the national federations that so wish may join this agreement under the same conditions as the one established between the WPT and the FEP, designed to protect and help those young players with aspirations to reach a professional level.

“The union between amateur paddle tennis and the elite in the main world market, such as Spain, is sealed. Likewise, the possibility is opened for all those countries where paddle tennis is emerging with great force to join the initiative,” said WPT in a statement.

In addition, following the egalitarian line set by the WPT and the FEP, all tournaments will have the same economic endowment in the male and female categories, so paddle tennis, under the umbrella of both organizations, is confirmed as the only sport that reaches the parity at both the amateur and professional levels.
