Forward Josh Anderson will be one of captain Thomas Chabot’s assistants on the Canadian team which will begin its journey at the World Hockey Championship on Friday.

On the eve of the inaugural game against Germany, Hockey Canada revealed the identities of the players who will sport a letter on their jersey. In addition to the colors of the Montreal Canadiens, Pierre-Luc Dubois and Adam Lowry, of the Winnipeg Jets, as well as Damon Severson, of the New Jersey Devils, will wear the “A” for the training led by head coach Claude Julian.

“It’s always special to wear the Maple Leaf and it’s an honor to be named captain for the World Championship,” Ottawa Senators defenseman Chabot said in a statement. Josh, Pierre-Luc, Adam and Damon show great leadership and are excellent players. I’m happy to be part of the leading group with them. The whole team is looking forward to playing for Canada and we will represent the country with pride as we defend the gold medal title from last year.”

Canada defeated the United States 4-3 in a shootout on Wednesday in a pre-season game in Helsinki, where it will open the competition.
