“In our rooms and suites you will experience ultimate comfort, absolute tranquility and the best service. From the single room to the Presidential Suite – every room in our hotel surrounds you with timeless elegance, pleasantly warm colors and an exquisite interior.” it said on the website of the Nassauer Hof in Wiesbaden. And it was precisely with this comfort that a 60-year-old man apparently had a good time for more than two years.

Not unusual up to this point, because that’s what hotels are for. Nevertheless, this man now has to answer in court because there are still unpaid bills after his luxurious accommodation. All in all, his overnight stays and other services resulted in an invoice worth more than 235,000 euros. This is how the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung” (FAZ) reports. The alleged rental nomad is now accused of rental fraud in a particularly serious case.

The man is said to have booked a room with his wife and their dog in July 2019 and paid a deposit. The man changed rooms several times, complained about the cleanliness of the hotel and even threatened to publish reports that were harmful to business. His demeanor was very bold and he repeatedly extended his stay without paying a cent.

In the end, 145,000 euros came together for the overnight stay and around 90,000 euros for other expenses. It was not until 2021 that a new hotel manager finally pulled the ripcord and threw the man out of the house. Apparently, the man didn’t learn anything from this: He then moved on to another luxury hotel, where again he didn’t pay any bills.

It is not known why the hotel allowed the man to stay with him for so long without being paid. The man now faces a fine or even imprisonment of up to 3 years if he is lawfully convicted of rental fraud.
