After accidents involving 24 vehicles, Autobahn 3 near Weibersbrunn (Bavaria) is completely closed. Twelve people were injured Thursday morning, two of them seriously, a police spokesman said. The accidents happened in quick succession at a distance of almost 500 meters. Black ice is suspected to be the cause. The A3 was completely blocked in the direction of Frankfurt.
Two lanes were blocked on the opposite lane in the direction of Würzburg. A burning pickup truck drove there, the spokesman said. A total of almost 70 emergency services and two helicopters were deployed. Further details were not initially known. The police asked motorists to be careful.
