Snowfall and frozen water caused some vehicles to slide in eastern Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania on Tuesday. As a police spokeswoman said, more than 20 accidents were recorded in the morning, in which there were some minor injuries, especially in the Mecklenburg Lake District. A bus crashed into a traffic light in the north of Neubrandenburg. In the Neustrelitz region, a vehicle driver came off the road on snow and crashed the car into a tree. There were two children in the car. Details are not yet known.
A car also crashed on a mountain between Malchin and Neukalen (Mecklenburg Lake District), resulting in one person being injured and a traffic jam. In some hilly places, such as on the federal highway 192 at Rumpshägener Berg, trucks got stuck because they couldn’t climb the incline. There were also ice accidents on the island of Rügen, in Samtens and in Western Pomerania-Greifswald. There had been several centimeters of snow in the morning, the wet snow falling on the frozen and icy snow remnants from the previous day. The police advised drivers to be particularly careful driving in view of the treacherous slippery road.
