“We must be careful, but it does not seem that monkeypox is going to lead to such a dramatic situation and with as much contagion as happened with Covid,” assured the Minister of Health, Alejandro Vázquez, in relation to the existence of a suspicious case of infection by the virus in Castilla y León that “is not yet confirmed”.
The Junta de Castilla y León, through the General Directorate of Public Health, announced yesterday the activation of the action, epidemiological and care protocol in the event of this case, for which the Ministry of Health sent the corresponding analytics, following the protocol established by the Coordinating Center for Health Alerts and Emergencies for the entire National Health System.
The case now under investigation meets clinical and epidemiological criteria, for which the Epidemiology Services of the Board transferred the corresponding samples to the National Microbiology Center of Majadahonda (Madrid), a reference laboratory for analysis by PCR test.
Vázquez has referred to this case after the presentation ceremony of the new managing director of the León University Assistance Complex (CAULE), Alfonso Rodríguez-Hevia, informs Ical.
