After an accident with a seriously injured person on New Year’s Eve in Grimmen (Vorpommern-Rügen district), the police are investigating a suspicious driver. As a police spokeswoman said on Sunday, the man is said to have hit the injured pedestrian with a car when the fireworks were lighting shortly after midnight and fled. Other men, who were also firing firecrackers and rockets, observed the accident and gave clues to the getaway car. The 25-year-old victim from Grimmen was taken to a clinic.
The suspect is also believed to be from the area. He is accused of negligent bodily harm and hit-and-run. Forensic scientists are now examining the car for signs of the impact on the front and investigators are investigating the exact circumstances of the incident.
