Bundesliga leaders SSC Palmberg Schwerin, after winning the round of 16 for the DVV Cup, now have to play in the top eight teams against league rivals VC Wiesbaden. The game will take place on November 26 (7:00 p.m.). The Mecklenburg women made it through on Sunday with an unchallenged 3-0 (25:13, 25:10, 25:10) at second division side SSC Freisen.
After the game, coach Felix Koslowski spoke in front of around 800 spectators of a “compulsory task for us”, but also had great praise for the hosts: “Freisen created a really great atmosphere. They organized a huge event, that was real impressive. The hall was on fire, there was a lot of heart and soul in it. It was really fun.”
Although the SSC coach had spoken of the “most important game of the season so far” before the duel, he sent a starting lineup that had changed to five positions onto the field. Nevertheless, the Mecklenburg women lived up to their role as favorites right from the start. Even the ten-minute intermission show after the second round didn’t faze the guests. After 62 minutes of play, Lina Alsmeier ended the third set with the point to 25:10 and with it the game.
Next weekend, the SSC has to travel again: Saturday (6:00 p.m.) the selection for captain Anna Pogany is required at the German champions Allianz MTV Stuttgart.
