When Wanda came to Amelinghausen in Lower Saxony one day in October, she was hovering between life and death. Her skull was scalped, a deep gash gaping in her head. A man had found the hedgehog in an allotment garden, immediately got in his car and drove the 20 kilometers from L√ľneburg. Antje Fabrizius-Voigt was already waiting. She placed the hedgehog on the examination table, a converted writing desk, and treated the wound with a special solution. Then Wanda moved into her new home.
