What began as a relaxing birthday weekend in a four-star hotel in California could now end in a lawsuit: A couple checked into the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Half Moon Bay near San Francisco for four nights in November 2022. An incredible incident occurred there, as a result of which the woman is now suing the luxury hotel chain Ritz-Carlton. This emerges from various media reports.

The reason for this is the water that the couple ordered at reception. The woman called the hotel receptionist and ordered water to her room. About five minutes later there was a knock on the door and a male hotel employee handed her several bottles of water. The woman placed them on her nightstand next to the bed and the couple went to sleep. When she woke up thirsty later that night and took a sip from one of the bottles, she “immediately knew something was wrong,” the lawsuit says.

She woke up her husband and contacted hotel management. While she “spoke with the security guards on duty and hotel management, she realized that the chemical taste she had perceived was similar to that of semen.” The hotel notified the police and then sent the water bottle to a laboratory for analysis.

The result: the water actually contained sperm. The couple is now suing for, among other things, sexual assault and intentional infliction of emotional suffering. It also calls for a trial before a jury.

Additionally, the lawsuit states that the Ritz-Carlton did not release the water bottle or a copy of the test results to law enforcement. In addition, the identity of the hotel employees who were on duty that day is not being revealed “so that their background and criminal history cannot be checked.”
