After fatal shots in a hospital in the US city of Atlanta, an hour-long manhunt led to the arrest of the alleged perpetrator. According to the police, the 24-year-old was caught yesterday evening (local time) after shooting around in the waiting room of a clinic and killing a 39-year-old. In the act, the background to which was initially unclear, four other women were also injured – some of them critically.
After the incident, the suspected shooter fled in a stolen car. The emergency services searched in several counties in the state of Georgia with a large contingent for the man, who was described as armed and dangerous. A photo of the suspect was also released.
Shootings, murders and even suicides with firearms are commonplace in the USA. Tens of thousands of people are killed every year. In the conservative state of Georgia, gun laws are particularly lax. Republican Gov. Brian Kemp signed legislation last year that would allow guns to be carried without a state license.
