It should have been one of her happiest days. But the wedding of a couple from the US state of South Carolina came to a sad end.

As several US media reports, the 34-year-old and the 36-year-old said yes on Friday in Folly Beach near Charleston in a romantic ceremony on the beach. Around five hours after the wedding ceremony, the newly married couple left the celebration in a golf cart decorated with cans and a “Just Married” sign. They were accompanied by his brother-in-law and nephew, one of whom drove the car.

In a zone where only 25 miles per hour (about 40 km/h) were allowed, they were suddenly rammed by a Toyota. A 25-year-old drunk woman was behind the wheel of the rental car. She is said to have crashed into the vehicle at more than 100 kilometers per hour. As a result of the impact, the golf cart was thrown about 100 meters and overturned several times. While the bride died at the scene of the accident, her husband suffered multiple fractures and a brain injury. The brother-in-law and nephew were also seriously injured.

The groom’s mother set up a fundraising page on Gofundme to pay for her daughter-in-law’s funeral and her son’s medical bills. She wrote: “At the hospital I was given Aric’s wedding ring in a plastic bag five hours after Sam put it on his finger and they read their vows to each other,” she wrote. “Aric has lost the love of his life.”

The driver who caused the accident was charged with drunk driving, negligent homicide and serious bodily harm.

Watch the video: A pedestrian was crossing a street in Saint Petersburg – at that very moment two cars collided at the intersection. The woman was incredibly lucky.
