The Universitat Politècnica de Valencia, through its Institute of Telecommunications and Multimedia Applications (iTEAM), will turn Valencia into the capital of 5G technology next week with the celebration at the Oceanogràfic of the V5G Days 2022.
Organized by iTEAM-UPV with the collaboration of Mobile World Capital and AMETIC and the support of the Generalitat Valenciana and the Valencia City Council, V5GDays 2022 will be held on Monday 30 and Tuesday 31 May, under the motto “5G as the engine of digitization”.
During these two days, national and international experts from the scientific, business and administration fields will discuss the present and future of mobile technology. Thus, it will be possible to know the current state of 5G in Spain and different success stories of the deployment of this technology in the country, the latest advances in 5G research and development with a Spanish seal; the challenges of the microelectronics industry in Europe and digital reindustrialization, the future of photonics in the industry or the new challenges in 5G cybersecurity, among other topics.
«We will be able to find out where mobile technology is headed and we will do it with the help of high-level speakers, experts in the development of 5G technologies, who will provide us with the vision of the future that is already being developed for the next generation of 6G mobile networks. At V5G Days, research leaders will meet to tell us what the future of mobile networks will be like and what they are developing in their most recent projects”, highlights Narcís Cardona, director of the UPV’s iTEAM Institute and coordinator of V5GDays 2022.
The opening of the congress will be carried out by Cashu, a social robot developed by the Valencian company Fivecomm, in collaboration with the iTEAM Institute of the UPV.
After his welcome, he will give way to the official opening ceremony of the event, which will be attended by Teresa Risk, General Secretariat for Innovation of the Ministry of Science and Innovation; Salvador Estevan, General Director of Digitization and Artificial Intelligence; José Capilla, rector of the Polytechnic University of Valencia; Pilar Bernabé, Deputy Mayor for the Economic Model of the Valencia City Council; and José Manuel García Duarte, General Director of Telecommunications of the Generalitat Valenciana.
In addition, during these two days you will also be able to see mobile immersive tourism applications with 360º and 5G cameras, various types of robots for remote supervision and inspection tasks, applications for driving a small vehicle with Virtual Reality glasses or smart water meters. equipped with 5G technology.
And among the speakers, the participation of Federico Ruiz, director of the National 5G Observatory; Arturo Azcorra, General Director of Telecommunications and Management of Audiovisual Communication Services; Weng Tong, CTO Huawei Wireless; Pedro Mier, President of AMETIC; and Empar Martínez, Autonomous Secretary of Economy.
